I have worn a night guard for over 25…
I have worn a night guard for over 25 years for grinding at night and thought that was sufficient. In the last couple of years I have experienced extremely bad pain in my jaw and neck. Each morning I would spend 15‐20 minutes massaging the tension out of my jaw and neck. I related it to some upper back issues, stress, and life in general. I have had MRI’s (nothing wrong), x‐rays (nothing wrong), massage, acupuncture, exercise programs, physical therapy for over a year, you name it I did it diligently to no avail. I needed a couple crowns replaced and my dentist noticed my teeth had hair line cracks from excessive grinding and did not want to proceed until I saw a TMJ specialist. I was referred to Dr Yamamoto.
To be honest at first, I was a bit apprehensive not truly believing I needed to go to the extreme and expense of a TMJ specialist. Dr Yamamoto explained his process, made models of my bite, sent me off for an x‐ray and then walked me through an hour long power point presentation he created on my jaw, bone structure, bite and each step he would take throughout the process. It’s a series of treatments over several months.
Last Wednesday was my first treatment and Dr Yamamoto was meticulous and thorough making minor adjustment after adjustment for over an hour. I woke up Friday morning with NO JAW PAIN!!! It was as if a vice had been finally loosened around my neck and jaw after years of being tightened and tightened. It had been so long since I didn’t have pain I had no idea what this feeling was like! I did not share this with my husband as it was just too good to be true and thought maybe it would not last. Today is Sunday still no pain and yes I did share with my husband who’s as thrilled as I am. And this is just the beginning of my treatment.
Btw: If you did not have results with Dr Yamamoto it’s only because you didn’t follow his program with the same degree of commitment he exhibits with each of his patients. He is gently and kind and funny and caring. He’s what I call a “giver” more passionate about helping his patients achieve results than paying the bills. As a business owner myself I value this trait above all else. Can’t wait for the final result stay tuned I will happily share! Thank you Dr Yamamoto and your lovely team!
